Need some opinions !-
When cycling a tank, when tested, ammonium ions are present but nitrite is 0。
When ammonia is 0, nitrite os present。
what does the above mean? Does both mean the bb is not working - tank not cycled for both? Any difference between the 2?

>Any difference between have ammonium and no nitrite and no ammonium with nitrite?
If u have just fed, ammonium should go up ya? Do in a cycled tank, its possible to have 0 nitrite with ammonium ions?

If u have just fed, ammonium should go up ya? Do in a cycled tank, its possible to have 0 nitrite with ammonium ions? it depends got nitrate anot。 if just fed, i dont think there will be ammonia unless got bad food and high bioload。 more like protein。 if no nitrite but got ammonia can be no bb or high bioload。

If u have just fed, ammonium should go up ya? Do in a cycled tank, its possible to have 0 nitrite with ammonium ions? Both cases just meant that your tank is not cycled。 Simple as that。
Din know that after feeding, there will be signs of ammonia even in cycled tank, new to me。 Or maybe your filter system cannot handle your load? Or filter medias setup up not optimize ? Or food stuck in sump? Or。。。。so many other possibilities。。。。
I may be wrong above though。。。。
>If feeding of flakes, pellets i do agree there shouldnt be any ammonia spike after feeding。 But for predatory fishes feeding of market prawn and different meats i believe there will be an ammonia spike right after feeding。 With all the juice from the market prawn when our fish chew。 Ammonia spike should last for at least a turnover rate of flowrate of the pump used。

>I will said that with ammonium and zero nitrite, the tank maybe cycled or not。
I will said the tank is cycled only if the nitrite did not increase after that。

Different testbest food for arowana colo Aquaculture Forum When ammonia is zero and nitrite is present, the tank lack of bacteria to breakdown nitrite, check the filter element。

When ammonia is zero and nitrite is present, the tank lack of bacteria to breakdown nitrite, check the filter element。 i will test for all 3 as there will be changes even in a cycled tank hence fix the problem when the test is abnormal。
