Recommanded flow rate

×

Hi bros
My tank 6x2x2。5。 Sump 5x2x2。 Water seem not clear。 Wouldnt say is cloudy。 But yesterday when I off the the pump to clean my sump。 The water is like so clear。 So weird。 I am using rio 32, Biohomme, CR, coral chip。 Any comment?

maybe your flow rate is too strong and hence causing the cloudyness。
how long has your tank been running?
if I am not wrong your overall tank + sump vol is about 900L。。 and rio32 is about 8500L/h if I am not wrong。。
therefor your cycle rate is about close to 9x。。 and with such high flow rate , the BB in your sump will grow properly and hence it will not decomposit your dirt and causing all the dirt to flow back into the tank。。
try getting a smaller rate pump like 4x your tank vol will do。。 I think this will help in clearer water as well as helping the BB to max it growth rate
>i am running a 6x2。5x2。5 with a 5ft sump tank i run with just Ehiem 1264 no prob, media, biohome, CR and Biorod

>I also agree that your flow rate may be abit too high。 I am only using a rio17 for a 6x2。5x2。 But mine is a ohf though。 But should not be so much different from a sump unless your height difference is alot。
>Try more layer of wool and sandwich more layer of magiclean paper or japan floor paper。 You will see the different。
>Thanks Bro for input。 After changing to 1262 seen clear liao

>Magic clean is superb for trapping fine dirt。 Its been used by hobbyists for many years already。
