Back to Nature : PanaqueBack to Nature : PanaqueSo after the recent spate of wanting to remove wood from my Panaque tank i am now won over to replicating the natural biotope for a Panaque which is water currents, plenty of DW。
I have 2 sets of wave maker istalled in the Panaques Tank and DWs ,fish hatchery south africa but the base looks empty。 I was toying with the idea of putting somekind of substrate and i was thinking those polished pebbles。

I am just worried about the trapped debris anyone done this setup ? especially those with pebbles or even gravels as base。。 how do you guys deal with the water management ?

I am just worried about the trapped debris anyone done this setup ? especially those with pebbles or even gravels as base。。 how do you guys deal with the water management ? it will still trap waste and deberis after some time no matter what you do。。if you put substrate below。。 anyhow if the current of the tank is not too strong, it will all settle down after sometime。。 of cos once it settle down dont try to move the substrate。。or else all the deberis will start floating up and cloud you tank。。 and worst it will sudden increse the NO3 of the tank and might harm your fishes。
my advise。。 if you want a long term and yet easy maintanances。。 just leave the tank bottom bare。。 after a while you will not even bother or notice that the bottom is bare, because all attention will go to your setup design of DW and fishes。
>Strong wave maker and regular wc, bro。
>I find it quite disturbing that the plecos cant get hold of the pellets I drop。。 its as though they are dribbling the pellet from one end of the tank to the other thats why I thought having a substrate might help hehehe
>Depending on ur filtration as well。。 Will it choke ur pump? Panaque will mess up the substrate。。。 Will cloud water?
>My filtration is an OHF so far so good。 Maybe I will get some rocks and place them at strategic locations to give the tank some natural look。。
